Part-66 Licence

The Part-66 license is the official European document issued by OSAC under the authority of EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) that allows any aeronautical technician to operate within a company.

It is obtained in a Part-147 approved organization (EASA aeronautical training center standard) by justifying theoretical and practical regulatory training or by recognition of experience.

The different types of aeronautical licenses are:

• Turbine aircraft maintenance: A1 and B1.1
• Maintenance of aircraft with piston engines: A2 and B1.2
• Maintenance of helicopters with turbine engines: A3 and B1.3
• Maintenance of helicopters with piston engines : B4 and B1.4
• Avionics: B2
• Light aviation (less than 2 tons):  B3

The A licenses: minor scheduled line maintenance operations and simple defect rectifications in Part-145 organisation.

The B1 license: maintenance work performed on the structure, the engine and the mechanical and electrical systems of the aircraft; work on the avionics systems requiring only simple tests to demonstrate their correct operation and not requiring troubleshooting.

The B2 license: maintenance work performed on avionics and electrical systems, and electrical and avionics tasks in engine and mechanical systems requiring only simple tests to demonstrate proper operation; minor scheduled line maintenance operations and simple fault rectification.

The B3 license: only on non-pressurized piston aircraft with a MTOM less than or equal to 2000 kg: same as B1.

The C license: certification of the complete aircraft after basic maintenance operations in Part-145 organisation.
